ONLINE THERAPY IN CHICAGO AND ILLINOIS

✔ Your identity is celebrated
✔ Relief you can actually feel
You’ve been the "strong one" for a long time.
On the outside, you’re the one everyone relies on. You show up. Get things done. You're constantly holding it all together, trying to make it work, and handling the pressure to keep things moving. You’ve mastered the art of looking like you have it all together.
But inside? You’re tired in a way that sleep doesn't fix.
You've spent so much time caring for everyone else that you don't know how to care for yourself—without all the guilt.
You aren’t broken. You’ve just been surviving.
Nothing is wrong with you.
You’ve tried “all the things.” Maybe it was the self-help books, the podcasts, or the journaling. Or maybe you’ve just tried to work harder and power through.
You’ve tried to be twice as good, to be the “strong one,” and to ignore the comments you know mean more than they seem.
And still, the heavy feeling in your chest and the racing thoughts haven’t gone away.
The truth is: You can’t seem to get rid of…
The Mental Loops
Your mind refuses to shut off at night, replaying conversations and to-do lists.
The Second-Guessing
You’re constantly wondering if you’re doing "enough" in your relationships.
The Weight
You carry expectations from family and community that aren't yours to bear.
The Waiting
Even when things are going well, you’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The Guilt
You feel a wave of shame the moment you try to rest, say no, or ask for help.
This isn't a failure of willpower. It's a nervous system that has been in survival mode for too long.
We do therapy differently.
We built the space we wish we had.
For too long, therapy has felt like a "one-size-fits-all" box—a place where you have to leave your culture or your identity at the door.
As a practice founded by a Black woman, Mindful Healing was built to be different. We’ve brought together a team of therapists who are not just highly skilled, but who truly "get it."
We believe therapy should be a place where you can set down your armor and stop code-switching.
In this space, you can finally stop:
Explaining who you are
We celebrate BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identities. You don’t have to "teach" us; we honor your lived experience from day one.
Performing
You can set down the "strong" mask. This is the one place where you don't have to have it all figured out.
Rushing
We move at a pace that respects your body, ensuring you feel steady, supported, and truly safe.

Healing starts with feeling safe
You deserve a therapist who sees you — not just your symptoms, but your culture, identity, and lived experience.
Our team is intentionally chosen for their warmth, clinical skill, and deep respect for the people they serve— so you can focus on healing, not performing.
We offer culturally affirming, trauma-informed therapy in Chicago and across Illinois for adults, teens, and couples seeking support for anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, identity, and relationship concerns.
This is a space where you are seen, valued, and welcomed — exactly as you are.

Not sure who is the right fit?
You don’t have to figure that out alone. Our intake team knows our therapists’ strengths and specialties.
Tell us a little about what you're looking for, and we’ll point you toward the best person for your journey.
What to Expect
A path that respects your pace and your personhood.
01. Your first session isn’t an interrogation.
We know starting therapy can feel vulnerable. You only share what you feel comfortable sharing. You don’t have to show up with a "plan" or the perfect words; we are here to help you find them.
02. Set down the "Strong One" mask.
You don’t have to perform here. Show up in your pajamas, with your cat, or in the middle of a messy day. We’re here for the real version of you, not the polished one the world sees.
03. We focus on the "hidden reality."
In our first meeting, we’ll look at what feels hardest right now and, most importantly, define what safety actually looks like for you. We don't just talk in circles—we work to understand how your past is showing up in your present.
04. No "clinical mystery."
You are the expert on your life; we are the experts on the clinical tools. We work as a collaborative team to identify the patterns keeping you stuck and build the tools your nervous system needs to find its way back to calm.
Common questions — answered honestly
-
Yes. For many people, being in their own space — with familiar comforts like their pets, a favorite cup of coffee, and no commute stress — makes it easier to feel grounded and open. When your body feels safe, therapy often feels more natural and productive.
-
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO, Blue Choice, and Aetna insurance plans. We even verify your benefits before your first session so there are no financial surprises.
-
That’s our job. You just show up as you are. We’ll help you find the words and the way forward.
-
We offer virtual therapy for adults, teens, couples, and families across Illinois navigating anxiety, trauma, family stress, burnout, and life transitions.
-
You don’t have to figure that out alone. Our matching process considers your concerns, preferences, and identity — so you’re not starting over again.
Ready to set that weight down?
You’ve carried this for long enough.
You don’t need to wait for a "breaking point" to deserve support.
You are worthy of a life that feels light, safe, and entirely yours.
